As written up in powerboatguide.com: Introduced in 1984, the 32 Convertible became one of Carver's best-selling boats in the 1980s thanks to an affordable price and a very innovative floorplan. Like most Carvers of her era, the 32 was built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam, relatively high freeboard, and very little transom deadrise. Her conservative profile masks what was once considered a very unusual cabin layout. Where most convertibles have the engineroom under the salon floor, in the 32 the engines are farther aft, under the cockpit sole. This allowed Carver designers to insert a rather spacious midcabin under the dinette, accessed from the galley, with a double berth and a large hanging locker. With that, the Carver 32 is an honest two-stateroom boat--rare in any 32-footer. There's a full-size refrigerator in the galley, and a stall shower is included in the head. Two lift-out hatches in the cockpit sole provide good service access to the engines. Additional features include a transom door, swim platform, flybridge seating for five, and a bow pulpit. A hard ride in a chop, Mercruiser 260 V-drive gas engines cruise the Carver 32 Convertible at 17 knots and reach a top speed of 26-27 knots.
